A Brief NaNo Announcement

Just a quickie. I have decided (officially) to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo. And I have some things I need to run by y'all :)

I know what you're all thinking. Better late than never? I didn't even decide on the story I'm going to do until today :P But now I know and it's all planned out and beautiful and I am PUMPED for this :D

So. First, what do you think?

Andora's Folly

a retelling of Pandora's Box

Andora is a beautiful but careless young woman with insatiable curiosity. The only unmarried girl in the village, she has suitors aplenty. When a letter is slid under her door from the son of an old enemy, Andora's father seizes the chance to settle an old score. His plan rests on one thing: Andora's folly.

It's medieval, epic, and will be novella length. My goal is 30,000 words for the camp! :)

Second, I want to be in a cabin with at least one person I know. So should I do my own cabin? (I hesitate since this is my first time to do anything NaNo). Or will someone awesome invite me to theirs? Because that would be amazing! ;)

Looking forward to giving this a shot and putting my editing on hold.

~~~~~
Hope you're all enjoying the giveaway! :D Are you doing Camp NaNo? (((can I join your cabin?))) Any tips are welcome :)
  1. Oh, sounds like it'll be an awesome story!! And 30K is a good goal! :)
    I won't be doing camp NaNo. . .simply because July is far too busy for us, but I did NaNo last year in November, and I'm planning on doing it again this year. :)
    Have fun!!! NaNo is soooo much fun!! :D
    1. Thank you! My all-time monthly high is 21,000 words, so we'll see :) Having a new story in your brain always helps, though :D
      Awesome! I have never been brave enough to try regular NaNo, but maybe I will this year if all goes well in July. At least I won't have the added stress of school :)
    1. Thanks! I'm very excited about it :D I found that myths are much more exciting than fairy tales, so I'm totally retelling a myth :)
      That's okay, I think I've found one! Have fun!! :D
  4. This is so funny because I literally JUST joined Camp today! After weeks of vacillating between whether or not I should participate, I finally just decided to jump into the deep end and do it. :D Unfortunately, I also just decided to completely change the plot of my story so...IT'S BASICALLY A MESS RIGHT NOW. Hopefully I'll have some inkling of a plot by Friday...
    Oh, and I would LOVE to have you in a cabin! I'm currently not in one since I just joined, and would be delighted to have some of my buddies in my cabin. :D
    So glad we both decided to do it! And for the record, your novella sounds amazing!
    3. Ok if you two are interested then YOU ARE IN. :)
    4. Eeep, thanks so much for the offer! I wanted to see if some of my other friends have room in their cabins first, if you don't mind. But yes, I would be interested! I'll hopefully give you a definitive answer tomorrow or Monday morning. :) THANK YOU!
    5. Totally gonna do it, Jonathan! You should join us, Mary!!! Then I would know SO many epic people in the cabin!! *dies* But if you must join your other friends, then go for it :)
    6. Well, it looks like I'll be able to join your cabin, if there's still room. :) I'll be out of town until Wednesday so I'm not sure if there's a way to add me if I'm not on my account? (This is my first time doing Camp so I have no clue how to add people to cabins, hehe. :P) THANKS SO MUCH FOR ASKING MEEEE! :D :D :D
    7. Ohmygoodness, you have to join us!! :D :D Have no fear, I am equally clueless! So we can enjoy tormenting our cabin mates with our ignorance together ^.^
    8. So pretty much go the cabin settings on the menu list and select I don't want to be sorted or something of that nature. After you do that Jonathan will invite you both and it will pop up on the page when he sends it. If you want a better explanation cause I'm bad at this lol or any questions just email me @ hannahrodzzz@icloud.com
      (Btw I'm a cabin mate :p)
    9. Also I'll need your NaNo usernames. :) So I can invite you after you do what Hannah said.
    10. Hannah, I emailed you yesterday because I had a question about the cabins. Yep, I'm really bad with stuff like this. :P
      Oh, and here's the link to my account so you can invite me.
  5. That story sounds great and I love your pictures for it! I really, reallyyy wish I could join you for camp NaNo but I'll be away at camp all July. :/ Which is fun of course but it'd be awesome to write together.
    Good luck though! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
    1. Thanks so much :) Pinterest is always my best source of inspiration :)
      Bummer! I hope you have fun at your real camp. We'll have to write together sometime just for the fun of it :D
      Thank you!! I'll try not to totally abandon my blog and keep people updated :P
    2. Haha, tumblr is mine, personally. ;)
      I'm sure I will, though I wish I could do it all. It'd be really fun to write together sometime though. A word war come wintertime when I am not so busy?
      I have the same problem with no internet access for the majority of the next two months. :P
      Delete
    3. Yes. Most definitely a winter word war :D
      Ah, enjoy that seclusion! I'll look forward to any posts you can manage while unplugged from the world :)
  6. I've never done Camp NaNo myself...in fact *whispers* I didn't even hear about it until about three months ago so yeah...
    *in a normal voice* I don't even know how it works or anything! The story sounds interesting, and hopefully you'll give us some snippets?? (hint, hint)
    Also, I'm thinking about joining Camp NaNo now that I'm FINALLY graduated and have time, so if anyone can tell me how it works, I'd love to jump in free-fall. ;) And drag anyone along for the crazy ride who wants to. :P
    1. I'm so glad it sounds interesting! I spent my entire day trying to come up with a coherent plot :P
      REBEKAH!! YOU HAVE TO DO IT!! Basically, you spend the entire month of July in an online, virtual cabin with 11 other people. You set your own word goal, plan a project, do word wars, and motivate each other to hit your goal. I've never done anything NaNo, but the camp appeals to me because July is a much better month than November and you can set your own word goal instead of having a preset goal of 50,000 words :) And you don't actually have to start domething new if you don't want to :) If you're still confused, just google Camp NaNo :)
      I can't guarantee you a spot with me because I'm gonna join Jonathan's cabin, but I'm sure there are some lovely people who would love to have you join :) Let me know what you decide!!
  7. Yay, you're doing Camp! Your story sounds awesome! And you're welcome to join me in my cabin, if you like.
    Also, tips: (These also apply to the regular NaNo, for the record:)
    -Know where you're going before you get started, at least a little bit.
    -Eventually, 1K a day will start to feel like a lot. When that happens (or even before it does), break down your daily goals still further: 100 words in 15 minutes, 500 before lunch, end of this scene before dinner, etc.
    -Wordcount crawls are your friend. Go to the Word Wars, Prompts, and Sprints section of the forum, find one you like, and go for it. You'll at least get your wordcount for the day in, and you'll probably get more than that, but it'll give you a reason to keep going.
    -If you get stuck, do something unexpected and unplanned. It helps. Trust me.
    1. That's so sweet!! However, I think I've found another cabin to join. Thank you, though! All you people are so nice to me ^.^
      Yay for tips!! You're such a life saver! I've got a rough outline, so I just want to spend a little more time pinning down my characters :)
      Break down goals, do challenges, shake it up. Got it! Thank you :D You all know how slowly I write, so if I can hit my goal, I will be so happy!!!! :)
    1. It's a very awesome concept, Bethany, so you'll have to consider it!! (But, personally, I find November a terrible month to set aside for crazy writing!)
  12. I'm actually doing Camp Nano for the first time this year!!! My goal is also 30,000 -- which I'M FREAKING OUT ABOUT. but geesh, your book sounds so fantastic! I am in a full cabin, otherwise I would have invited you. :P Well, I would have asked. lol! I'm in a great cabin tho :D
    So excited to do this!! PLOTTING IS HARD THOUGH RIGHT?!
    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Phew! Yay for first-timers! :P Yeah, I will be very, VERY proud of myself if I hit 30,000 words, haha. Heheh. Heh. >.>
      That's all right! You're very sweet :) I hope you have a fantastic time in your cabin! :D
      Ach, I'm so glad everyone likes it! I mean, not that I have to win everyone's approval, but it was totally spur of the moment, so it's still a little scary. YES plotting is hard! I spent hours on my laptop reworking the basic plot. In the end, ONE PAGE that summarizes the entire novel. ONE PAGE!!! (Which I feel like is both a success and a failure :P) I must plot the characters and then we'll see what next :)
      Good luck!!
  13. AHHH, SO AWESOME!!!! XD I'm doing Camp too!! I haven't officially made a goal yet, but it will be 30K-45K. *collapses at the thought*
      Thank you! I hope everything goes well for you, too! Write something amazing :D And find a cabin, girlie!! I can see if there's still room in the one I'm joining (with Hannah Rodriguez, Hann Remraf, and Jonathan Trout) if you'd like ;)
      Aw, that's okay (but very sweet). I have found a very awesome cabin of peeps to join, so I am happy :D Seriously, though, with a 12 person limit, how will we EVER get to write with everyone we want?! Grrr :(
      Yes! Left-handedness for the win! Doesn't it? I'm super excited, even though it's just a virtual cabin. I can count on the coffee, but I'll have to cross my fingers for rain! ;)
