A Fact About Me

Well, I kind of forgot it was Saturday until recently, so I'm going to do this fun tag from Rachael for my post today. Thanks for giving me an easy out, Rachael ;)

~Guidelines~

  • Take the banner and paste it to your post.
  • Tell a single, meaningful fact about who you are.
  • Explain this fact as open, and explanatory as you can.
  • Tag at least one other blogger, and give a reason why you think they should do this.
  • Add a Bible verse to close out this tag.
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you.
  • Have fun!

Yeah, well just one fact seems a little shallow, so I'm going to follow in my tagger's rebellious footsteps and do as many as I want :D

~Fact #1: Favorite Foods~

You all know I like to look at mushrooms and eat cheese. My new cheese find is pre-sliced Havarti from HEB. Oh my goodness. You have to try it. It's amazing, I promise. And it's mild, so don't worry, I'm not throwing blue cheese at you yet. I also happen to adore every single vegetable ever with the exception of celery and beets, which I loathe. Yes, this means I like asparagus, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, radishes, and all of that lovely stuff :D And if I had to eat a dessert it would be chocolate or pie. :)

~Fact #2: My Alphabetical Alphas~

Um, so I have 5 people alpha reading the first draft of my novel, morphing it into my second draft. I realized the other day that their names are alphabetical!! I have Gloria, Ivy, Jamie, Katie, and Madison. Fill in the gaps with the people, I am reading for, and there is Hailey, Jesseca, and Lydia. Awesome, no? I thought it was very awesome.

~Fact #3: I Used to Hate the Idea of Blogging~

Several people had told me I should give blogging a shot since I liked writing/editing and it's the way to connect nowadays. Well, a few months ago, that made me shudder. Come up with things to say and connect with people online? What? Are you crazy? I don't talk to people for real, so why would I online? Once I got into the mode of following blogs (something else that never appealed to me), I decided I wanted to join the crazy world and here I am :)

~Fact #4: Shuffling Skills~

I have forever shuffled using my thumbs on the corner of the deck (which is apparently some fancy Vegas trick). In reality, it's just my excuse for teaching myself. I have just recently learned how to shuffle cards like a normal person, complete with being able to do the bridge in natural slow motion. Cool, no?

~Fact #5: New Babysitting Job~

Another job I never thought I would enjoy, but I do. I babysit. A lot. I got like 3 new clients in the fall and I just got a new one this week! A little 2 month old baby girl will be mine to hoard and cuddle for several hours this evening. I may possibly be very excited. And, yes, she is the cutest thing ever! She also happens to be the age of the baby in my WIP, which means I will secretly be gleaning knowledge for my book :D

~Bible Verse~

From my favorite character in the Bible. I just love the story of Esther, don't you? She's so brave and unsuspecting! And I love all the huge wars between Greece and Persia that were going on at that time.

"Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law: and if I perish, I perish!" ~ Esther 4:16

~~~~~
Ta-da! You should feel very fortunate for receiving all those extra facts. If you liked this tag, consider yourself tagged (because I'm lazy like that). You've got a link-up and lots of guest posts coming your way, so be prepared for change. Mwahaha! Now, I expect a random fact about you all, whether you're doing the tag or not :)
  1. You are so brave to let people read your first draft! I only allow one person that 'honor' XP mainly because I get overwhelmed a little and I need advice on how to proceed and someone to help me realize it isn't as bad as I think. Plus, she's read all my stuff since the beginning so she can't exactly read anything worse from me XP
    Ahhhhh I babysit too *tired smile* my siblings, mainly, but sometimes some other kids from church (which is, let's be honest, W A Y more fun).
    I love Esther too! She's so amazing and brave and inspiring and I love that verse, especially the end: "if I perish, I perish!" Such a brave statement, one we should all strive to follow.
    1. Yep, encouragement is the big factor. It motivates me to have other people interested when I'm too lazy to want to bother with draft 2 ;)
      Yeah, it's totally different babysitting someone else's kids! You get to be seen as the cool older friend instead of the bossy older sister ;)
      Yes, she is my role model <3
  2. I LOVE asparagus and Brussel sprouts, too!!! Actually, I had some asparagus for lunch, along with sweet potato fries and chicken. I don't like celery either! And beets aren't my favorite either. A random fact about me...I don't like cucumbers, but I love pickles. ;)
    1. Oh, that sounds so yummy right now! Yeah, I have to be in the mood for cucumber. It sticks with me. And I love dill pickles, but sweet relish, and only if they're cold!
  3. Hey, I remember going to HEB when I was younger (and by younger I mean younger-than-six younger). Coolness. Do they still have the HEB Bucks things that you can use in the claw machine thing? Just out of curiosity?
    I have never heard of shuffling with your fingers on the corners of the cards . . . that's interesting.
    IDK if I'll do the tag because I'm sort of doing NaNoWriMo just now. But a random fact, since you requested one . . . I have five, possibly six, pairs of wristers and one pair of fingerless gloves. All the wristers I knit myself; the gloves my sister knit for me. They're very useful when you're typing on the computer or doing schoolwork and your hands are cold.
    1. Haha! Yes, they do still have Buddy Bucks and dinky little prizes you can save your points to get. But my siblings always just wear them as stickers and forget about the prizes ;)
      Wow, I wish I were that good at knitting! I like it, but I've never managed anything more elaborate than a scarf or washcloth ;) I love fingerless gloves; they make me happy :D
  4. I enjoyed reading these! Hmm, as far as a random fact about me . . . I can't stand sushi (or blue cheese, sorry!). Yuck. I only ride horses western, and I don't compete. I like photography. I'm reading The Hobbit with my blog readers, but I also like the title that Tolkien wanted for it: There and Back Again.
    Haha, guess you got stuck with a FEW random facts about myself. Hope I didn't bore you!
    Oh, and I don't know if you saw my offer before, but if you ever do want another set of eyes to go over your writing, let me know!
    1. I'm right there with you on sushi! I really really want to like seafood, but if the fishiness doesn't get me, the texture does D: It's okay, blue cheese is definitely an acquired taste ;)
      Oh cool! I wish I could ride horses more. I've always liked it but never been around that many that handled riders well ;) I vaguely remember my dad reading The Hobbit aloud to us. For some reason it did not stick with me! I like the alternative title, too :)
      That would be awesome, Bethany! I'll be pooling for beta readers in a month or two, so be watching for that announcement ;)
    2. You sound JUST LIKE MY PARENTS when you talk about "acquired tastes." But my mom says the same thing about sushi. :/
      Maybe we can ride together if we ever get to meet in person!
      I will keep an eye out and I am very excited! I will be signing up for certain!
  5. Yesh! Rebel against the rules that you can! D Fun facts! Really? Cause around Augustish I will probably be looking for two other Alpha readers besides my amazing Alpha for everything reader. I will definitely be asking you.
    1. Oh, goodie! I would love to read your work. I can never be reading too many!! It's been my sole source of reading, of late. And now I find myself wanting to mark errors in every book I read :P The worst was the typo in the book about proofreading. Grrrr ;)
    2. :D That was probably super frustrating. Yes! I'm betaing two books right now, plus a bunch of project from my writing friend. :D
    3. Very.
      Yep, I'm betaing 3 at the moment, and keep signing myself up for more in the future ;)
  6. Haha, that alphabetical thing is hilarous. :)
    Aww, that baby sounds adorable. Haha, book research. xD
    I love Esther, too. A very inspiring person. :)
    1. I thought so :D Ach, yes she was SO cute! A tad fussy, but cute nonetheless. It had been too long since I held a baby that little *sigh* Seriously, though, it was very helpeful for writing about the baby in my book ;)
      Ah, yes. Esther's just the best. I wish they'd make a really good movie about her. I vaguely remember seeing "One Night with the King," but I also remember it being a little Hollywoodized or something . . .?
  7. Oh, I love learning random facts about people like this!! :D
    I like *most* vegetables but not beets. :P haha! That alphabetical-ness is awesome. XD
    I totally get the shuffling skills thing. Been there, done that. Hahaha. ;) And baby-sitting us totally research, ;)
    Random fact about me? Um, I'm the shortest person in my house of four people. Probably the quietest too. ;)
    1. Yay! Oh good, I wasn't sure the shuffling thing made any sense! I could never get the hang of the "normal" way because I didn't realize you had to hold the deck differently . . . But now it's all cool and it looks fancy when I forget to do it right ;)
      The only reason I'm not the shortest, is because I have lots of little siblings! In the end, I think I'll be the second shortest, because my sister is right at 5' and I'm 5'3" on tall days. Hopefully my passel of brothers all pass me in due time ;)
  9. YES YES YES YES to all of theses! Babysitting is the best-- I got to spend the weekend with many babies and I am currently going through baby withdrawal.
    Also! Esther! Yes! So inspiring, always. I want to name my future son Mordecai (Cai for short!).
    And I think I speak for the entirity of the internet when I say that I am incredibly, increasingly elated that you took the step to create such a beautiful blog and share your writing brilliance with us all. xxxx
      Aw, thanks so much. You're always so sweet and uplifting :D I'm having a lot more fun than I would have thought!!
  10. I enjoyed reading your random facts. =)
    Esther is one of my favorite Bible characters as well. Her story is so beautiful...and I hope that if/when the time comes, I'll have her courage to stand up for what is right! And trusting God, no matter what happens in life. A random fact about me is that Hadassah (Esther's Jewish name) is one of my favorite names! =D And yes, I do have a baby name list. =P
    1. The name Hadassah is so beautiful and unique! I really like it, too, but I'm not sure if I'll use it ;) Don't worry, I keep a list of names I like, too. Esther is definitely on there! There's nothing wrong with having lots of options so you can come to agreement when the time comes ;)
  12. I loved reading this post! And I feel the exact same way when I babysit. It's so much fun to get character ideas from babies and younger children! ;)
    The alphabetical alphas is just so cool! It's neat how everyone's names ended up being alphabetical order!
    Hmmm, random fact? I like snakes and lizards, but I can't stand ants. Ridiculous, I know, but it's true. ;P
    1. Yes, she was so good to learn from for a little baby. I keep wanting to make the baby in my book older than he should be because our youngest is 20 months ;) Yes, I was so thrilled when it all came together! And I hadn't even started taking people on the grounds that they add to the alphabet ;)
      I don't detest snakes and lizards; I've held them both. But I would never want one as a pet. Ants are not my friend, but they never really bothered me until we had them infest our kitchen. Then I got kinda edgy D:
    But random fact about me? I WAS BORN IN HAWAAI. No? Don't believe me?
    Aarrgh you guys are too smart. :P
    But btw I also like Brussel sprouts, so high five! (of course sour patch still take the position #1 but still) Aaaannnddd I was going to mention shuffling skills also but then I decided I didn't really want to go there.
    So yeah. Great post though! :D
